Needed

Hope for Guatemala is in need of and actively seeking praying people. Perhaps the most powerful tool we have as believers is prayer. Hope faces needs and situations daily that are literally insurmountable and impossible without God's inervention. We believe that God is for us and is bigger than any problem we might face. His word clearly tells us we can call on him when we need him through prayer and supplication.
Would you be willing to stand with us and pray? If so, please send me an email so I can send you any pressing or current prayer needs for Hope's kids, the ministry, and the Armas Family. Thank you!

Some current prayer needs:

Veronica Carrillo: physical and emotional protection from her addict mother and the young men in her neighborhood who want to do her harm.

Erick Cel: Healing and relief from terminal liver issues.

Ministry: We need a reliable, trustworhy, competent, Godly secretary who feels called to serve with Hope for Guatemala.

Armas Family: Physical protection as we serve in a dangerous area of Guatemala City. Healing for Daniel's seizure condition

Dear Erin,

As time has gone by with this ministry, we have seen God's hand lift us up, sustain us, embrace us, and push us forward. Nothing gets done in life, and certainly not at Hope for Guatemala, without God's help. We invite to read about some of the great things the Lord did through Hope and its supporters in the month of August. Please put some special attention on the Praying People Needed section and let us know if it might be a fit for you. Our work would not be possible if it weren't for all the individuals, churches, and businesses that support us. Thank you so much for your love, dedication, and involvement.

Western New Yorkers Bless Hope's Kids
Becca and Laura, high school juniors from Rochester, NY came to visit us on a short term mission trip in August. The girls came with open hearts and their goal was to spend time and bless our teenage girls; young ladies just like themselves in so many ways. While here, Becca and Laura shared love and time with about 20 of our teenage girls. They played games with them, helped serve, joined them to cheer on the boys' soccer team, invited them out for Pollo Campero after the game, and sponsored and hosted a slumber party at the ministry. All in all, this is the most love and attention directed specifically to our teenage girls that we've ever had from missionaries. Thank you so much to Becca and Laura's families, church, and Heaven Sent Ministries for sending us beautiful lights in these two young ladies.

Let's Get Building!
We've taken the first step in initiating our vocational program in the form of the carpentry shop. Fausto, our newest employee, oversees the vocational program. Fausto is a 3rd generation master carpenter. He has already made various pieces of furniture for the ministry and used this opportunity to start training a couple of our older boys. Bryan, our oldest teenager at 19, has become an unofficial apprentice for Fausto, while Rogelio (pictured) has taken an interest in learning as well. We have several pieces of woodworking equipment set up in the vocational area that were previously donated or purchased and are looking forward to expanding this area as a training and diversion center for our youth.

Everyday Miracles
Hope for Guatemala is dedicated to helping the children and families in Zone 18. All in all, over 1,000 people are blessed by our daily activities. We have 180 registered children in our program who represent nearly 100 families, totaling over 1,000 in all the households. In August 3,800 plates of hot, nutritious meals were served to our children and staff alone. Literally thousands of pounds of vegetables and fruits (GRACIAS, CENMA!) were sent home via market day every Tuesday. In addition, several families, those with extreme need, were blessed with non perishable food items as well as hygiene products in August.  Dozens of children came to do their homework, get school supplies, and tutoring in our school reinforcement sessions. Jose visited several schools to receive progress reports and attend parent meetings. He also helped our older teenagers find and enroll in their upper school studies. All of our 180 children were given the chance to play, laugh, and be "kids" during game day. They were able to ride bikes and play air hockey and dodgeball. Our boy's soccer team ended up with 4th place in the local tournament and our girls team is playing for FIRST place in September. Your donation does so much more than feed a child at Hope for Guatemala. Many of our children are in dire circumstances at home and in the streets. We are able to offer love, counseling and a refuge to those who have parents who are absent or addicts, victims of abuse, those struggling with homosexuality, disease, and many other horrors young people should not have to face alone. Thank you so much for supporting Hope for Guatemala and the future of our kids!
